bfig and launch day promo.png

It's that time again! Come see us at MIT in Cambridge, MA and play amazing games from some of the best up and coming indie designers. We are proud to be part of this show, it's a curated show floor and we are very honored to have been chosen to be part of it. Be sure to come play our new guitar themed game Re-Chord!

Speaking of Re-Chord, it launches on Kickstarter IN SEVEN DAYS! Many folks have asked what they can do to help. The absolute best thing you can do is back the game on kickstarter day one! It really helps to fund early and allows us to focus on the fun stretch goals and fun things for our backers. We also really love when you share via social media, so please like, share, tweet, and share with your insta-grandma!

See you this weekend in Boston, you can get tickets at the link below!

Revealing the Re-Chord Pick Powers

We want to start this week off by showing you what the various pick powers in Re-Chord do when activated. The picks are two sided and when put in the public pile are placed face up displaying their color. When a guitarist takes a pick from the public pile during a game, they can activate that pick's power. We can't wait to share more with you leading up to our Kickstarter launch in early Fall, but for now, here are each of the pick powers!

Placing a white pick allows a guitarist to choose and place another pick from the public pile.

We really appreciate you taking the time to check out these pick powers. Stay tuned for a short video introducing the core concepts of the game, as well as a longer in depth rules video. We'd love your support on Facebook and Twitter, but most importantly we'd love your support during our upcoming Kickstarter campaign. Have a fantastic week!

Spring Update - Re-Chord @ CT Festival of Indie Games

Hello everyone!

We've got a ton to share today so let's get right into it. Yanaguana Games is having an incredible year so far and we appreciate every single person who has stopped to play a game, purchased some games from us, or shared the word about YG. If you are in south Texas you may have seen the full page article about Stir Fry Eighteen in the SA Express newspaper which was a pretty cool milestone for us. This year has been very busy, so let's talk about what's been going on since PAX South and what to expect this summer!

First and fret-mostly, if you don't know about our Guitar Themed game "Re-Chord" then get over to the game's page and take a look at the video Marshall created explaining how to play. We've been working non-stop since PAX South to make Re-Chord the absolute best game we can prior to releasing it. We've changed some of the guitar pick powers, added a draft, and made the game move a bit faster overall.

Marshall spent last weekend at the intense design convention "Fantasticon" in New Haven, CT sharing designs and swapping design tips with some brilliant folks from the industry. Re-Chord got some really amazing treatment and the improvements made last weekend are amazing. Designers, we cannot express how beneficial spending time with other creators can be for your process.

We have submitted Re-Chord for the Festival of Indie games in both Connecticut and Boston. We are VERY proud to announce that we have been accepted as one of the ten games to be showcased at Connecticut FIG on June, 3rd in Newington CT. Come out to Newington Tabletop Shop from 10 am - 8 pm and play Re-Chord with Marshall!

Finally we wanted to share that both Marshall and Andrew are meeting with various publishers, distributors, and vendors regularly to form the best plan for our products. Currently as a company we have a few options for Re-Chord's future including a Kickstarter campaign, a publishing agreement, or self publishing as we've done in the past. We are discussing the notion of letting another outlet publish Re-Chord and any further reprints of Stir Fry Eighteen which would allow us more time to create.

That's the update! We hope your year has been equally successful and joyful. Andrew and his Wife Becky are also expecting their first Child this summer, so congratulate him or give him a nap break if you see him at conventions! Thanks for being part of Yanaguana Games' success and we can't wait to rock your socks off with Re-Chord later this year.

Post PAX South and 2017 HQ Update

Hello everyone. We just wanted to give you a quick update on what's been going on here at YG over the last month since PAX South! We'll recap our incredibly thrilling convention tale for you which involves a stolen vehicle, a fortuitous meeting, and exploding bottles of unknown mixtures!! We will also go into as much detail as possible about future plans, though much of that information is not able to be shared quite yet. Finally we will go over why we will not be at PAX East this year unfortunately.

PAX South was quite an experience this year! The new Henry B. Gonzalez convention center remodeling job is really impressive. We had a fantastic show and sold many more copies of Stir Fry Eighteen and actually sold out of on hand stock of Shipload o' Gold. The buzz about Re-Chord was abundantly positive and we feel it's definitely in a place to move forward. The excitement really kicked up a notch on Saturday night when we walked out to find that Andrew's Tahoe was stolen! We fortunately have some great friends in San Antonio who immediately scooped us up and took us to dinner, thank you times a million Anthony and Juan. After dinner we played Potion Explosion which is as silly and fun as it sounds, you make potions with matching marbles and then drink them to gain powers!

On Sunday we had meetings with two publishers, both had very positive things to say about our games. While we are still doing our due diligence, we were extremely comfortable with one group in particular and hope to be able to share more about that meeting in the near future. PAX South was yet again an incredible experience. Huge thanks to Rene Guzman for stopping by to interview us about Stir Fry Eighteen. You can see the printed version in the picture below and find his online article here: http://www.mysanantonio.com/lifestyle/article/Stir-Fry-Eighteen-card-game-a-successful-recipe-10912718.php

We'd like to share what the future potentially looks like for YG currently. Essentially Andrew and Marshall have decided that making games is their primary passion. It's been vital to learn about manufacturing costs, shipping, printing processes, and self-distribution in that they've given us real insight into making great games that don't require high costs to produce. With all that in mind the plan is to move away from the publishing side of the business and leave it to folks who already have that knowledge figured down to a science.

We are still heavily play testing Re-Chord and planning the kickstarter campaign, if you have suggestions for stretch goals we'd love to hear them! Our plan was to take Re-Chord to PAX East for more testing and exposure. Unfortunately there were a number of logistical issues that came up, the primary being Marshall having a surgery being scheduled for the first week of March. It's not major but will require a bit of recovery so we've called off PAX East and Unpub for this year.

We also wanted to share that Andrew's vehicle was recovered! The person who stole the car was caught and we hope they get the help they need to get their life turned around. Thanks for reading and we hope to see you across a tabletop soon.

Come see us at PAX South this Weekend!

It's that time of year again and we are really excited to show off what we've been working on at PAX South in San Antonio, TX this weekend. We've got a new euro style worker placement game called "Re-Chord" that utilizes real guitar chords as objectives and guitar picks as pieces! We have some demo copies to show and our upcoming Kickstarter should be launching very soon after the show. Be sure to stop by TT903 and play a round with us.

We also of course have both Stir Fry Eighteen and Shipload o' Gold copies for sale but are limited in terms of stock again this year so drop by early if you have been planning to pick up either. We sold out on Sunday last year so we've adjusted our inventory to attempt to accommodate more folks! We can certainly demo either of those games for you as well.

We have some meetings planned with various publishers and distributors in the near future as well. Andrew and Marshall would like to focus on creating and developing games this year and plan to delegate distribution and sales efforts. If you are a publishing outlet and would like more information please email us or visit the booth at PAX to set something up.

We are beyond excited for the hours of gaming and teaching we will be doing this weekend. We love all of our games but have never been so excited about the potential of a game as we are for our new euro style game, "Re-Chord."  Come play it with us early in the weekend and get a raffle ticket for a game giveaway on Saturday night!

End of 2016 update

Hello and happy holidays to everyone. We hope the year has been good to you and that you've made many fond memories around the game table. This year at Yanaguana Games was incredible and we have only our fans, friends, and families to thank. We just want to give you an update on what the year was like and what's coming up starting in January.

We started 2016 by showing at PAX South where we promptly sold out of our first print run of Stir Fry Eighteen! From that point we of course moved to reprint the game in a more suitable retail box (those of you with the '16 Pax South Take-out Box have a rare bird on your hands). You've no doubt seen our handy little tuck box but we'll share it below with it's cute little hat on.

After PAX we spent much of our year dealing directly with local retailers across the U.S. with some success. We are working on adding a page with all of our retailers soon as well as working towards alternate distribution methods. We will keep updating on that front, but if there is a store you'd like to see our games in, please drop us a line.

Towards the end of the year Andrew and Marshall started working on a game involving guitar picks. It's evolved wonderfully into a full board game with some really fun mechanics and it's getting great feedback in initial play tests but more on that later.

We also unfortunately had to say goodbye to one of our team at the end of 2016 as well. Alex Clifford is one of the co-founders of YG and quite frankly this company would not exist without him. Alex moved to the UK shortly before 2016 began and was an amazing team member to get up early mornings for Skype meetings with us late at night for much of the year. The realities of working from overseas eventually became clear and Alex gracefully handed the reigns of the company over to Andrew and Marshall. We will always have a seat at the table here for Alex and he remains our close lifelong friend.

That brings us to 2017... PAX South here we come! Andrew and Marshall are proud to show their new game off at PAX South 2017. We have a demo booth in the tabletop area again and will have a small on hand stock of our published games there for sale. We will update more soon on that but for now, enjoy your New Year celebrations and be safe!
